Your Point of View: Understanding and Communicating Between Cultures

Students in Vietnam are increasingly interacting with people from other cultures and backgrounds. Sometimes, social situations arise that can’t be solved by grammar and vocabulary alone; they require students to reflect and consider the points of view of all speakers. So, how can we best prepare them for these situations?

Join National Geographic Learning academic consultant Andy Duenas and our guest, Ms. Anh-Hang Trinh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Hanoi University of Science and Technology as they discuss the how, what, and why of Intercultural Communicative Competence. Ms. Hang will share her experience and research with teachers in Vietnam. Teachers and administrators will leave with some tips on the best ways to enable student communication in a rich, multi-cultural world.
