Who’s the fastest person you know? Is a cheetah faster than an Olympic sprinter? What’s the fastest animal on earth? What about the fastest vehicle that has carried people? And finally, what’s the fastest thing there is? We will answer these questions and more as we explore and compare the pace of things around us in this math-based article from the Reach Higher program. Using academic vocabulary like ‘distance’, ‘rate’, ‘scale’ and ‘solve’ while reading a text and practicing visual literacy with graphs and data, we will shed some light on the subject of speed.
