Speak Clearly, Listen Carefully: Productive and Receptive Pronunciation

Voices

Pronunciation is one of the most important, and overlooked, parts of learning English. Productive pronunciation means being able to say sounds, words, and sentences. Receptive pronunciation means being able to hear and differentiate between sounds and words so that you can understand others. Both are vital so we can use English as an international communication tool. In this model lesson, we will demonstrate activities for both productive and receptive pronunciation from the research-based pronunciation syllabus in Voices. Join us to learn about pronunciation points such as saying and understanding multiple consonants together; producing and hearing final consonants; differentiating between minimal pairs, understanding connected speech and more.
